I've tested with:

  GTK 2.4.1
  wxWidgets 2.5.2 (and CVS)

And haven't come across any problems.

What is the output from gdb?  Try:

  gdb mono
  > run minimal.exe

When it segfaults, type:

  > backtrace

And check the output.
