XP style / *.exe.manifest question

Currently I'm using an additional file (whatever.exe.manifest)
included with my application to have it pick up XP styled controls. Is
there a way to embed this into the executable directly? Is there some
compile time flag that I should be using when compiling wx-c.dll? Or
should I really stop obsessing about embedding everything?
