Hello, In March 2024, an incident occurred where the operator of a web service converting IPA fonts licensed under the IPA Font License to WOFF format received a warning from the IPA to discontinue the service. In response, questions have arisen within the Japanese-speaking open-source community about whether the IPA Font License fundamentally meets the definition of open source. I can provide several documents related to this matter, but I lack the ability to translate them into English. https://moji.or.jp/2024/03/01/ipa%e3%83%95%e3%82%a9%e3%83%b3%e3%83%88%e3%83%a9%e3%82%a4%e3%82%bb%e3%83%b3%e3%82%b9%e3%82%92%e5%b7%a1%e3%81%a3%e3%81%a6-2/ https://x.com/shujisado/status/1765541973203853320 https://mandel59.hateblo.jp/entry/2024/03/07/010127 https://x.com/search?q=ipa%E3%83%95%E3%82%A9%E3%83%B3%E3%83%88%20%E3%83%A9%E3%82%A4%E3%82%BB%E3%83%B3%E3%82%B9&src=typed_query&f=live _______________________________________________ The opinions expressed in this email are those of the sender and not necessarily those of the Open Source Initiative.
