DM, that's a very good point, I agree that the use of abbr in this
situation is appropriate.
But we shouldn't really be choosing between representing it as an
abbreviation or as a name : it's both. It's the abbreviation of a name.
So the way of carrying the full semantic information is to use both tags
(abbr inside name - so that expanding abbr would result in a properly
annotated name).

Ex: For <name type="x-nomen-sacra"><abbr expansion=“God”>Gd</abbr></name>
so loved the world
