What I was thinking was making output and a new switch called format 
handle all possible combinations. Some of the existing options to output 
would belong in format obviously. I'll have to look through it and see 
what it is going to take. Bjorn's solution B is good for now so you 
should re-release as .6 then let me take a crack at cleaning the 
interface up so the next point release.
