A good next step would be to run the benchmarks against some real world data, rather than just a single line. While running the benchmarks at 100K iterations I started noticing quite a bit of variation in the results. Not just the percentages moving around, but the rankings were shifting as well. It wasn't until I bumped it up to a million iterations that things started behaving more consistent. The stability point will probably vary depending on the speed of your system and how sporadic its load average is. Using a larger data set should allow reaching stability with fewer iterations. > For example, my data set and measurement shows rh1 (original) and rh4 > (consolidate + validation) to be slower, with my rh2 falling in > between (because of the way the RE engine works, longer strings will > have more impact). > > rh5 98522/s 71% 56% 52% 49% -- But I see rh5 is still killing the others. -Tom -- Tom Metro Venture Logic, Newton, MA, USA "Enterprise solutions through open source."
