Dear Logwatch-Developers,

I've just completed a review of all scripts in CVS related to the
copyright-issues brought up by Willi.

First of all, Kirk, thank you for adding license/copyright information to each
of the files. There are, however, some inconsistences with the information found
in the CVS logs and the files themselves. In detail, these are:

scripts/services/
  - files with wrong copyright, but including proper author info (could be fixed
by looking to the files and adding addition Copyright (C) lines):
barracuda, bfd, cisco, clam-update, clamav, clamav-milter, denyhosts,
dovecot, dpkg, emerge, evtapplication, evtsecurity, evtsystem, exim,
    eximstats, extreme-networks, fail2ban, imapd, in.qpopper, ipop3d,
mailscanner, netopia, netscreen, oidentd, openvpn, pix, pluto, pop3,
portsentry, postfix, pound, proftpd-messages, pureftpd, qmail-pop3d,
    qmail-pop3ds, qmail-send, qmail-smtpd, rt314, saslauthd, scsi, shaperd,
slon, sonicwall, shdd2, tac_acc, up2date, vpopmail, windows, xntpd,
    zz-network, zz-sys

  - missing license info:
    spamassassin, courier

  - http: copyright should be Michael Romeo <[email protected]>
  - raid: copyright should be Anders Blomdell <[email protected]>
  - sendmail-largeboxes: copyright should be Colin Smith <[email protected]>
  - smartd: copyright should be Jac? Botha <[email protected]>
  - yum: copyright should be Sy Beamont <[email protected]>

scripts/shared/
  - files with wrong copyright, but including proper author info (could be fixed
by looking to the files and adding addition Copyright (C) lines):
    applyeurodate, applytaidate, eventlogonlyservice, eventlogremoveservice,
    hosthash, onlyhost

  - applyhttpdate: copyright should be Michael Romeo <[email protected]>
  - applyusdate: copyright should be Sy Beamont <[email protected]>

In my opinion, missing license headers and those missing the author info
completely should be fixed first. These are not as many, so that should be
doable. Concerning all the files where copyright-info and author-statements
_inside_ the scripts do not match: These should really be fixed as well, but
that probably requires looking into each of them and fixing as necessary; I
don't see any chance for a scripted operation here.

I would be nice to see this fixed, and logwatch release, some time in July to
get this into Debian/lenny for the next stable release of Debian.

Thanks a lot,
Michael
