The file versions you listed were inherited from when Logwatch was on svn or cvs. It is currently on git. So the older file is probably from 2005. I don't know the creation date of the other file. I recommend you get a new Logwatch. You can download it from https://sourceforge.net/p/logwatch/git/ci/master/tree/ After that, you can specify the level of output detail. In the default installation, the file /usr/share/logwatch/default.conf/services/sendmail.conf lists the type of output for each of the Detail settings specific to sendmail. [As an aside, the version revision statements do provide some history prior to the migration to git. Not sure of the best way to handle it. One option is to delete those log entries. Another option is to put a header describing that it is not current, and left for historical interest only. If anyone has insight on the best way to proceed, let us know.] On 05/05/2017 07:02 AM, Howard Ratzlaff wrote: > The logwatch report for sendmail has too much noise and makes the report > hard to use. > > I have tried the following version of sendmail.conf, but receive this > error when run: > > "Use of uninitialized value in concatenation (.) or string at > /usr/sbin/logwatch line 1341." > > sendmail.conf version > > # $Log: sendmail,v $ > # Revision 1.97 2008/03/24 23:31:26 kirk > # added copyright/license notice to each script > > sendmail.conf version that works, but has too much noise > > # $Id: sendmail.conf,v 1.14 2005/11/30 23:58:59 bjorn Exp $ > > > > > > -- > Regards, > > Howard Ratzlaff > m.559 917 7616 > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most > engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot > > > > _______________________________________________ > Logwatch-devel mailing list > [email protected] > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/logwatch-devel > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot
