OK, First thing is I’ve tried to set up the web server. Previously I had my http.conf pointing at /Users/kreme/Sites but I now want it to be in another location.

So, I fire up Server.app and click on “Web”

There is one setting there, “cerebus-4.local” with a path of /Library/Server/Web/Data/Sites/Default

I don’t want that, so I try to click ‘-‘ but it’s greyed out.

So I click the pencil, but none of the fields can be changed.

Fine, I go back and click the plus. I put in my domain name (home.kreme.com), and I set the IP address to my LAN IP, port to 80, select the new folder for the files, and say anyone can access it.

Now I try to access home.krmee.com and instead of the index.php that is there, I get the default Welcome to Lion Server page which is in /Library/Server/Web/Data/Sites/Default

For filesharing/portable homes I go to the FIle Sharing and select “Users” and check “Make available for home directories over AFP.”

When I login to another Mac on the LAN, I see nothing about putting home on the server.

Still in the File SHaring, I select the “TV” folder and say “Share with Windows clients (SMB). When I go to my Windows 7 machine it 1) cannot see the shares at all 2) cannot connect to the server no matter what user/pass combination I give it.,

Also, why does the machine (hostname cerebus) keep getting named cerebus-2.local (now on to cerebus-4.local)?
