Where is the Encrypted Partition Information stored ?

Hi

I am searching for the place, where OS X saves the encrypted partition info=
rmation. You know, when you create an encrypted partition is asks for a pas=
sword to encrypt and a hint. Where is that hint actually stored ? On the pa=
rtition ? I thought it would be the keychain, but I can=92t find it there.
