Leaks from clang, but not leaks or Instruments

I used clang to identify some leaks in my app. Inspection confirms  
that a couple of popup menus would indeed leak. But before I checked  
in my fix, I tried to see the leak, and couldn't. (I used both the  
command line tool, and Instruments.) Does the system (Snow Leopard) do  
some sort of caching of menus, so they aren't considered leaks?

I don't want to over-release.
