When does Carbon completely?

This discussion will ultimately be purely speculative since Apple  
isn't going to tell us, but I am still interested to learn what  
calculations others are making.

We already know that Carbon is a deprecated technology. What I am now  
wondering is when does it go the way of "Classic" and become  
completely unsupported and non-functional?

My current thinking is that OS 11 will be the line in the sand (both  
for 32-bit apps and Carbon). You will need to be Cocoa/Core Foundation  
& 64-Bit and anything else will just cease to function.

So, when will that come?

Well, we're at 10.6 now. Based on past history, it is 18 months  
between major releases and I figure 10.9 will be the final release  
before OS 11. So, that is 4 release cycles or 72 months or 6 years.
