Can no longer scan with Preview

Suddenly I can no longer scan from my Canon MG7720 printer/scanner/copier to my Mac Pro. The "Import from scanner..." menu item in Preview is grayed out. The printer works fine as it always has. I can manually copy items. But for some reason Preview doesn't see it as a scanner anymore.

I've "Reset printing system...", and added the printer again. I've power-cycled the printer, reboot the Mac (High Sierra). All to no avail.

What am I missing?
