Re: printing on hp officejet 5510 via linksys psus4 to dual ethernet airport HELP

Kevin's suggestion about trying LPR often works for network print 
servers, but reading the manual for this particular print server I do 
not see LPR mentioned as a supported protocol. However, both Appletalk 
and IPP are listed as supported, so I would try one of those protocols 
first.

With either protocol you will likely need to use the hpijs driver (or 
some other CUPS driver).  Download and install both of hpijs 1.5 and 
EPS Ghostscript,

Next, connect to the print server web admin and verify the following:

1) on the "setup" page make sure that appletalk is enabled.
2) on the "Protocol" page verify that the printer object type is 
"LaserWriter" and the communication  protocol is set for ASCII

save your changes

Now open Printer Setup Utility, click "Add" and select Appletalk from 
the top popup.  You should see your device appear in the list of 
devices. Select it, then select the "Printer Model" manually. You want 
to choose the HP driver called "HP OfficeJet 5500 Foomatic/hpijs 
(recommended)" (this is the HPIJS driver). Click add, then print.

If Appletalk doesn't work, try IPP. To get to IPP you need to hold down 
the "option" key when you click on "Add" in Printer Setup Utility. Then 
select "Advanced" from the top popup and "Internet Printing Protocol 
using IPP" from the "Device" popup. Enter a descriptive name for your 
device in the "Device Name" field (this is the name you will see later 
when you print), enter the device URI in the form

ipp://10.0.1.78:631/ipp/P1

then select the same printer model as specified above for the Appletalk 
setup and click add.
