SMACgmCaeGuiMod or SMAVgmVwrGuiMod has stopped working

the Student Edition of ABAQUS release 6.14 is installed on my PC.

When trying to launch CAE, I was confronted with "SMACgmCaeGuiMod has 
stopped working".

Likewise, ABAQUS stated "SMAVgmVwrGuiMod has stopped working" when 
invoking the Viewer.

Workaround:
run the PC in safe mode.

Simulations could be started in normal mode and in safe mode.

The advice on

did not help.
