Modal analyses do not give you displacements, they give you eigenvectors (w=
hich are normalized to one, or normalized using the mass matrix). Ask your=
self one question: what is my loading? Without a meaningful load you can=
=E2=80=99t have meaningful displacements, strains, or stresses. A simple f=
requency analysis will only give you mode shapes.

Hi guys! I'm a beginner in ABAQUs.
I'm realizing a modal analysis (free vibration) on a thin plate to obatin
the first 10 mode
shapes. I need, specifically, the displacments in Z direction (U3). I'm
entering with the inpunt data to obtain results with units em meters
(Elastic Modulus in Pa; dimensions in meters and density in Kg/m^3).
The plate have dimensions of 270E-3 x 360E-3 meters (270x360 millimeters).
The problem is the values of displacments em Z. They are absurds! Look to
the node 1, for example... can this one have a displacment of 3.5 meters i=
n
a plate of 270x360 millimeters? Definitely there is a problem here, right?
Someone can help me?
