No problem with Gold (patch-50):

(1) -> )set fun comp on
(1) -> p(0) == 0
(2) -> p(1) == 1
(3) -> p(n) == p(n-1)+p(n-2)
(4) -> p(3)
   Compiling function p with type Integer -> NonNegativeInteger 
   Compiling function p as a recurrence relation.
