CALL FOR PAPERS

Workshops : Held in conjunction with the

19th IEEE International Conference on High Performance Computing

(HiPC 2012)

December 18-21, 2012 | Pune, INDIA | www.hipc.org

The 19 annual IEEE International Conference on High Performance Computing
(HiPC 2012) will be held in Pune, India during December 18 - December 21,
2012. It will serve as a forum to present the current work by researchers
from around the world. HiPC 2012 will focus on the design and analysis of
high performance computing and networking systems and their scientific,
engineering, and commercial applications.

Complementing the main technical program, HiPC workshops serve to broaden
the technical scope of the conference in emerging areas of high performance
computing and communication, and their applications. The HiPC workshops
serves as an extended forum to present and discuss work-in-progress as well
as mature research among researchers from around the world, and also
highlight research activities in India.

The workshops listed below will be co-located with HiPC 2012 and are
soliciting submissions. For more information, please visit individual
workshop's website which are provided below, or correspond directly with
the respective workshop's chairs.

Workshop 1 : Workshop on Performance Engineering and Applications (WPEA)The
workshop on performance engineering and applications (WPEA) aims at
providing a platform for scientific researchers and practitioners to
discuss performance engineering for real-world problems in parallel and
distributed environments such as cluster, grid, peer-to peer network,
GP-GPU, multi-core systems and clouds. The workshop offers an opportunity
to discuss systems, architectures, tools, and optimization algorithms that
are parallel in nature and hence make use of advancements in high
performance computing. The workshop also offers an opportunity to discuss
advanced methodologies, tools, techniques and algorithms to enhance
performance for emerging applications. The applications intended for
discussions are, but not limited to, bio-informatics, earth and climate
sciences, physical sciences and engineering, telecommunication, finance
etc. Various algorithms and optimization techniques that tend to bridge the
gap between peak performance and sustained performance for various

Workshop 2 : Workshop on Parallel Algorithms and Software for Analysis of
Massive Graphs (ParGraph)

Combinatorial algorithms play an important enabling role in several areas
of science and engineering. Many combinatorial algorithms, graph algorithms
in particular, are characterized by irregular data-access patterns that
make efficient implementation on traditional high-performance computing
platforms challenging. Architectural features, algorithmic design and
software engineering techniques, and characteristics of the input
collectively determine the performance of these algorithms.

In addition, runtime support for irregular applications, programming models
(e.g., partitioned global address space (PGAS), bulk-synchronous processing
(BSP), active messages), and the emergence of hybrid manycore platforms
deserve attention. With this workshop we aim to bring together diverse
researchers interested in combinatorial (graph) algorithms, data intensive
applications involving them, and parallel computing.

Workshop 3 : International Workshop on Cloud Computing Applications (IWCA)Cloud
Computing is undoubtedly becoming an emerging platform for both the
industrial and scientific community. The promise of scale, elasticity, and
“pay-as-you-go” pricing models is attracting corporate IT staff,
researchers, and individual software application developers. With the
advent of “Platform-as-a-service” or PaaS, there is significant support for
design, build, test, and deployment tools in the cloud. Organizations the
world over are spending money and effort on experimenting with whether
Cloud is suitable for new application development and if it is mature
enough for migrating existing applications. However, Cloud is not just
another new platform to write applications on. This workshop is aimed at
identifying and discussing some of these new challenges of architecture,
design and implementation of scalable and high-performing applications for
the cloud. In this workshop, we invite practitioners and theoretical
researchers to share their works, findings and experiences in the above

Workshop 4 : Workshop on Massive Data Analytics on Scalable Systems
(DataMASS)The Workshop on Massive Data Analytics on Scalable Systems
(DataMASS), co-located with the IEEE International Conference on High
Performance Computing (HiPC), offers a new forum to present and discuss the
latest advances in software, systems, algorithms and applications to
address the diverse needs of massive data analytics using scalable
infrastructure. The goal of the workshop is to forge a partnership between
researchers of data analytics applications and algorithms, industries
engaged in innovative Big Data solutions, and the scalable software and
hardware systems communities to synergistically confront the mounting
