We are seeking a Postdoctoral Appointee to help develop algorithms to
meet the challenges posed by next-generation high-performance computing
hardware. The ever growing hardware core counts that demand extreme
levels of concurrency, reduced memory bandwidth, and increasingly
heterogeneous architectures is driving the need for novel portable,
fault tolerant, and highly scalable algorithms to meet national
computing needs in energy, climate, and national security. The scalable
algorithms team at Sandia is actively considering a number of research
topics to address these challenges.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
* Conduct innovative research and code development in the following
areas: high performance graph and hypergraph algorithms,
architecture-aware strategies, and Integration of algorithms with
physics-based and data-centric applications
* Conduct innovative research and code development in the following
areas: high performance numerical linear algebra, asynchronous
parallel iterative solvers, hierarchical matrix solvers, and direct
methods
* Develop new ideas, publish in journals and conferences, and present
at national and international venues
* Develop, improve, and support the Trilinos project (trilinos.org
<http://trilinos.org>) used to perform the research and deliver the
products of the research to Sandia mission applications
Outstanding applicants in other related areas will also be considered.
This postdoc position is for motivated and enthusiastic individuals with
excellent communication skills who have the ability to work in a
collaborative research environment.
Qualifications We Require
* Ph.D. in computer science, mathematics, data sciences, or related
engineering or science discipline received within the last five years.
* Advanced object-oriented programming experience in C++
* Research experience as evidenced by presentations, technical
publications, released software, and/or work with applications
Qualifications We Desire
* Experience in parallel programming such as MPI, OpenMP, CUDA and/or
threads
* Experience in high-performance computing on distributed, parallel,
and/or other specialized architectures (e.g., Phis, GPUs)
* Experience developing or working with packages in the Trilinos project
* Communication skills appropriate for participating in
multi-disciplinary teams of mathematicians, engineers and computer
scientists
* Experience working in collaborative software development environments
* Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance
