Dear Colleagues, The U.S. Department of Energy, as part of its Scientific Discovery through Advanced Scientific Computing (SciDAC) initiative, has awarded funding for an Institute to develop algorithms and software for combinatorial scientific computing problems on tera- and peta-scale computers. The SciDAC institute is called CSCAPES, Combinatorial Scientific Computing and Petascale Simulations; it involves researchers from Sandia National Labs, Argonne National Labs, Ohio State University, and Old Dominion University, where it is centered. An abstract of the proposed research and description of the outreach activities of CSCAPES is available on-line at http://www.scidac.gov/math/CSCAPES.html. I believe that this funding will help many early career researchers in the CSC community in their careers, and could help our community to continue to grow. Best wishes to all as we begin a new academic year, and here's a call for more posts to the CSC list serve! --Alex Pothen _______________________________________________ Csc mailing list Csc-lVPF2Jp+hdv2fBVCVOL8/[email protected] http://list.odu.edu/listinfo/csc
