Now that there's a bit of a pause in changes... I just tested everything 
and Maxima builds fine, the testsuite (with share) completes with only 
trivial buglets in GCL/SBCL, and the RPMs also build so long as I 
disable Russian-language documentation for the time being.

In other words, if there is consensus that this is a good time, I'm 
happy to prepare a 5.50 release this week. Please let me know.
