The problem is that wasm hasn't a concept of a console. Therefore one would not only need to compile maxima-ecl into wasm,  it first to embed it in a graphical user interface that were written in C and then to compile it to wasm. 

wxMaxima is written in C++ so I tried that but wxWidgets which it is based on is only partially ported to wasm, yet. Currently I have asked Claude to port wxWidgets to GTK4 as the wxWidgets team joked about someone needing to do that and half a year that thing they joked about was actually possible. Therefore a future that might make that possible might come one day. The next question would be, though: If that web-only version were to load a package: Where should it load that from? A big zip archive it contains? 

On the other hand: Compiling resident evil into webassembly was so easy they did that just because they could. A CAS that doesn't require a graphics accelerator should in theory be easier...
