As I hope everyone knows and understands by now, although Tochnog has = built in meshing capabilities, to model serious cases, a proper pre and = post processor is needed. In this respect, GiD (http://www.gidhome.com <http://www.gidhome.com/>) = has a nice interface for creating meshes, assigning material properties = and boundary conditions, in addition to being excellent at = post-processing Tochnog results. GiD=E2=80=99s only drawback is that it = is not open source and the student version has limited element and node = restrictions. GMSH (http://geuz.org/gmsh/ <http://geuz.org/gmsh/>) is open source, has = seen a lot of development, but does not offers the capability of saving = a mesh in a format that Tochnog can understand or read the Tochnog = results for post processing. Osman Buyukisik built AWK scripts to = convert a GMSH mesh into Tochnog format and for converting a Tochnog = result file into a gosh post processing file. Ideally, what we are looking for is for building a module into gmsh that = would allow gmsh to write a Tochnog *.dat file and to be able to read a = Tochnog results file for post processing.=20 Two options are possible: the first one is to build the tools/options = into gmsh, or to write the translators in c++ that will read the gmsh = mesh and will convert that into Tochnog format and do the same with the = post processing file.
