compilation problems

Hello:
I try
../user/configure --prefix=/root/L4/ia32-user-install --with-kerneldir=/root/L4/x86-kernel-build

But I get:
...
Some lines
...
config.status: error: cannot find input file: `config.h.in'

Kernel compilation was done. No problems reported.

Anybody can help me.
