Assuming that you still have a need, run the following to clean up after APT:

sudo apt-get autoclean

This will delete the package cache from /var/cache/apt/archives.

Also, you might have a bunch of extra dependencies that are no longer required, which you can remove like this:

sudo apt-get autoremove

Lastly, you could also have lots of old kernels hanging around in /boot.. reply with the output of:

# ls -l /boot

--and—

# uname -r

I can then write you a command that will remove the old stuff.

Subject: [mh] MH How to clean up and free disk?

Help please

My hard disk is found at 99% capacity and needed urgently to free some space as upgrade hardware is not an option for me as running on an old laptop but having plan to go to RPi soon (maybe I have to speed up this)

Being on Ubuntu Linux I deleted some files like caddx.log.xxxxx and caddx.out.xxxxx under /tmp but this only gave me only 2% back :(

Is there any other files (not only in MH but also in O.S.) to remove to help out the situation?

maaany thnx

GV
