It has been a while since I had to do this, but here
are my "notes to self" on how to remotely link

I2CS Insteon devices.

Running MH 3.1, no longer
necessary to manually link I2CS units via push button, do
via web interface (ia7)

Step 1 - Put PLM into
initiate Linking as Controller mode

Step 2 – Send link to
interface command to remote I2CS unit

be sure to select action,
then click action

I have had very good luck with PLMs I fixed a couple years ago,
including one that was obviously after they "fixed the cap problem"

I am now running MH 5.0 on a RasPi 3 B+, have not had time to update
to 5.1

Smarthome ended up selling me another one for 50% off after 3 days
trying to track down if my 7 years extended warranty (which they don't
offer anymore) went back far enough or not for my failed unit (turns out
not, I bought it with a PLM in 2011).

They promised that they have fixed the capacitor problem on their
current units.
I guess we'll see.

Now the annoying part will be to unpair/re-pair everything given that
the new insteon devices require that you manually push their button to
pair them to the PLM the first time (at least I think they do)
