Amazon dash buttons were useful when the connection was hijacked. Short story: - Program dash button to connect to wifi, with Amazon Shopping app on android - Turn off Internet access to this dash-only wifi network - Get MH computer to see DHCP requests from the dash buttons - Assume that a DHCP request means the button was pushed - Perform task based on which MAC address was seen. Now the amazon app doesn't support programming the dash buttons. Early version of the app used ultrasonic sounds to program them and later versions seemed to use another method (wifi?) Either way, the buttons are failing and need reprogramming, but there's no way to re-program them without some deeper hacking in the electronics. I scanned the Internet with searches and found this on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/HITSLAM-Bluetooth-Remote-Control/dp/B07L9V5FLL It seems that the MH computer could be used to monitor these buttons via bluetooth and respond. I'm a little worried about the range, but does anyone else have another low-cost button idea? I use these buttons to indicate that I took out the trash on garbage day, scooped the cat litter, dumped and refilled the cat litter, my wife took her morning, afternoon and evening pills, etc. If the buttons aren't pressed, we get PA announcements and notifications on our cell phones, etc. I'd like to replace them with something that's maintainable long term. Thanks!! -- Best regards, Steve Switzer --- Get world-class business I.T. services and a phone system with awesome features that won't challenge your budget!http://www.sbsROC.com ________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe from this list, go to: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/misterhouse-users
