Yes, but it's my understanding that I1/I2 devices required the set button
to be pressed for linking. The I2CS devices basically implemented remote
button press (in fact when you link them from the PLM they still chirp/beep
like if you had pushed the physical button). It's not an overall increase
in security (requiring you to know the device's ID helps only slightly) but
it does allow you to replace your PLM or other controller and not have to
go around and hit the button on every device, like ceiling fan controllers
which may be difficult to get to.
