Paul,
Currently three devices (Basic R3,RFR3 and Mini) can have Tasmota
firmware installed OTA (over WiFi). I successfully upgraded the
original Minis that came with R 3.5.0 firmware, meaning V2 of the OTA
protocol, meaning no special software required.
Many other devices can be flashed using either a serial programmer
(requires hardwired connection) or OTA using custom software (ex:
tuya-convert). See this site for details about what devices work and
