Dear Timothy, Thanks for the reply. So far, I think I found out where the actual problem was exactly. I had Java 8 installed and configured under ubuntu 13.04. I changed that back to Java 7 and everything begun to work again. andreltr@sigmatech:~$ sudo update-alternatives --config java There are 4 choices for the alternative java (providing /usr/bin/java). Selection Path Priority Status ------------------------------------------------------------ 0 /usr/lib/jvm/java-8-oracle/jre/bin/java 1077 auto mode 1 /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk-amd64/jre/bin/java 1061 manual mode 2 /usr/lib/jvm/java-7-openjdk-amd64/jre/bin/java 1071 manual mode * 3 /usr/lib/jvm/java-7-oracle/jre/bin/java 1076 manual mode 4 /usr/lib/jvm/java-8-oracle/jre/bin/java 1077 manual mode Press enter to keep the current choice[*], or type selection number: andreltr@sigmatech:~$ java -version java version "1.7.0_25" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_25-b15) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.25-b01, mixed mode) andreltr@sigmatech:~$ javac -version javac 1.8.0-ea I hope that helps anyone with a similar issue.
