It can _load_ an ontology from a remote location (with the “Open from URL…” menu command), but when it comes to _saving_ it, it can only save it to a local file on your machine. The default ontology IRI is just that, a default IRI (that you could, and arguably should, replace with an IRI that is meaningful for your project).
