My email client uses pobox.com's smarthost, precisely because I'm forced
to communicate with some people who reject my server.
Nevertheless, I reserve the right to send directly from my server, and DO
send all confirmations directly. The smarthost would reject messages
unless the envelope has my subscriber email address, and for this reason
(among others) I refuse to use it.
As a result, I add domains to badmailfrom when I discover them rejecting
my confirmation requests. AOL, Earthlink and a few other big ones have
joined several little ones in my blacklist.

Len.
