qconfirm configuration woes

I am attempting to configure qconfirm to control the spam for an account I have hosted on someone else's box.
 
The short (non-helpful) description of my problem is that when I configure an e-maill address to use qconfirm, messages sent to the list go into nowhereland.
 
$ qconfirm -V
$Id: qconfirm.c,v 1.9 2003/03/09 17:56:04 pape Exp $

 
My account is on a FreeBSD running qmail with virtualdomains. I don't have permission to view the virtualdomains file on the hosting server. However, the headers of my e-mail reveals the following norm in terms of prepending:
[email protected]
 
where nita is my account name. I use default/catchall .qmail files in all but the rarest of cases with domains in this account. Right now, I'm only attempting to setup .qconfirm for one domain under this account.
 
Accordingly, I followed the instructions for using qconfirm-conf to make the directory structure and creating ~/.qconfirm/conf/QCONFIRM_PREPEND
 
$ cat ~/.qconfirm/conf/QCONFIRM_PREPEND
nita-example.com-
 
The contents of the .qmail file for this domain are as follows:
$ cat .qmail-example\:com-default
|envdir /home/nita/.qconfirm/conf /usr/local/bin/qconfirm-check
./Maildir/
 
Again, messages I send to any address in the domain are neither delivered nor challenged. Furthermore, qconfirm list pending doesn't show anything pending.
 
Manually adding individual addresses (like this yahoo addy) via
$ qconfirm accept [email protected]
[email protected]: ok.
 
doesn't get me delivery either.
 
 
Before I go to my system administrators, I'd like a little help at tracking down the problem. They installed qconfirm from ports at my request quite some time ago (I've only just gotten the free time to wrestle with it). What I'm saying is that it is on the server as a favor to me, and I'd better have a complaint better than "it doesn't work".
 
Am I missing something obvious? Where do I go next?
