Thanks for the fast response, Gerrit. 
I will recompile ipsvd with the patch on the servers in question. 

Note, though - in order to provide any meaningful feedback I will need to
monitor it at least for a few days, or - better yet, for a couple of weeks 
to make sure the problem does not come back. 

I will post the results to the list.
