DIBS is a peer-to-peer encrypted backup network implementation
("disk drives are cheap, backup should be cheap too"). It uses GPG
for encryption and can operate through firewalls and even over e-mail
if necessary. See also Duplicity <http://www.nongnu.org/duplicity/>
(submitted by Effugas) which offers "encrypted bandwidth-efficient
backup using the rsync algorithm" but without the distributed network
of peers.
