    I believe the answer to both questions is “no”.  
    There are others that I reviewed that are in the top tier of “RSI programs” that keep a record of the characters you type (how many “e’s” and their percentage of total).  The purpose of this is to examine if an alternate keyboard setup (Dvorak, AZERTY etc.) would better suit the user. None of these programs are -actual keystroke loggers where it can be used to examine usernames and passwords.
    On the second question, the only server that it connects to is the one you specify in the setup.  There is no sending of reports of any form to “mother ship”.  There are some that do that, but you pay considerably more for the privilege of integrating at that level.  Programs like this are intended for use in a situation where a large number of people are experiencing RSI symptoms and you want to examine aggregate data.

I’m trying to gain permission to download and install Workrave on my workstation at work.  I have to answer a few questions first.  Can someone tell me:

 

1.       Does Workrave maintain a log of the keyboard characters as I type?  I know it has a keystroke counter, but I need to know if it records the actual characters either to a log or a database.

2.       Does Workrave ever connect to an off-site server or otherwise distribute the information it is monitoring to any 3rd party?
