Working with Graphics, Avoiding Mouse Interference

I am a web designer who works with graphics for most of the day.

I've noticed that everything but Quite Mode creates popups that interfere
with mouse input. I simply can't have this when I am in the middle of
adjusting graphics.

The problem I'm having with Quite Mode however, is that the orange bars are
often not enough to grab my attention. Is it possible to setup Quite Mode
to play sounds?
