Killing and restarting Workrave makes the DBus command you gave above work for me. I think the Workrave that was not accepting the DBus command for me had been started by the session manager because Workrave was running in the previous session. The restart command would have looked something like this (taken from my ~/.gnome2/session file): 5,RestartCommand=workrave --sm-config-prefix /workrave-K0VCKC/ --sm-client-id 117f000001000126621500900000047911487 --screen 0 --display :0.0 Is there anything in that command that would prevent DBus from working?
