Hi,

It's a really nice setup Robin :)

Besides are there any software developers that use Workrave, I'm also
interested in that.

Many thanks,

Hey All,

Well i have the micro break and rest break configured.

Micro: 1m15s break every 6m15s

Rest: 6m15 every 25m

At work I have the skip button enabled ( I do not use the postpone ) because
when I'm on the phone with a customer I need to be able to do stuff.

At home I have it disabled ( which can be frustrating at some times, but it
does keep me in check )

I've came to these numbers after 2 years of usage, the breaks are not too
long and the periods are not too close to each other to annoy me.

Hope that helps J

Robin

Hi there,

Anyone else share their experiences with Workrave? How often do you take
breaks moving away from the PC?

Thanks,
Ilian

Hi Kees Jan,

Thank you for the extensive reply. Why have you set it interrupt you every
2.5 minutes? I've set it that way to 1 or 1.5 hour so that I can stand away
from the PC and do a little break or walk away from the PC. I know the
problem is really within my psychic and otherwise it's a helpful tool.

So once again why have you set it interrupt you every 2.5 minutes?

I'd be very happy for others to share their experiences as well !!!

Thank you very much !!!

Hi Ilian,

If workrave interrupts you once every hour, you should consider yourself
very lucky. For me, it interrupts me once every 2.5 minutes :-) And yes,
I use it all the time (though I sometimes choose to ignore it :-)

I think it is important to somehow have the feeling that you, yourself
are in control, instead of workrave. If you feel like being trapped by a
tool telling you things, you're probably not going to be very happy
about it.

Instead of feeling like workrave is telling you to do things, you could
also consider workrave's intrusions as friendly advice or well-meant
recommendations. After all, you, yourself have asked workrave to
interrupt you, presumably because it is for your own good.

If you find it hard to delude (for lack of a better term) yourself this
way, you could change workraves settings to be less restrictive: show
skip/postpone buttons and/or don't block you from continuing to work
when workrave prompts you to break. That should help relieve the feeling
of being trapped a little.

Best of luck,

Groetjes,

Kees-Jan
