Workrave's dependency on right mouse clicks

Dear Workrave gurus, I recently got a new computer, and I do not yet have the right mouse clicks working yet, although left click works fine. I don't have middle click either but that is less of an issue. Apparently other people with the same computer have gotten the touchpad working completely with patched Linux kernel modules, and eventually these patches will be in the main line, so it is not a permanent problem. However, until I figure out how to get right mouse clicks working, I still desperately want to have Workrave working. Unfortunately, it seems impossible to configure Workrave without being able to do right mouse clicks. Left clicks on either the Workrave window or the notification area icon do not give access to the configuration controls. The only thing I can do with left click is start or skip rest breaks. I can not control the scheduling of the rest breaks. Is there any way to control Workrave configuration with the keyboard? Workrave is the only program I use that is so dependent on right mouse clicks. I've lost at most minor functionality in other programs due to this problem. I am using Workrave 1.9.4, which is the current version for Ubuntu 12.04 (Precise Pangolin). I am aware that the Ubuntu accessibility controls give the ability to simulate the mouse with the keyboard, but I'd prefer to avoid that. In particular, the way for simulating “secondary click” (which I hope means “right click”) involves giving up the ability to drag with left mouse clicks. I also know that most (all?) things can be controlled via GConf. I've already used GConf to turn off all the rest breaks because I couldn't control the schedule. I'd rather not have to make all my adjustments via GConf. Any suggestions? (Other than the obvious one of getting the right mouse clicks working. I'm not going to have time to deal with that soon, and in the meantime I need to use the computer so it would be great if I could configure Workrave for that.)
