Sigh, yet more wxPython issues.  It deliberately raises a NotImplemented
exception in the wrapper for wx.Sound.Stop().  From the C++ source code it 
definitely looks like Stop is implemented.  So I put in a disgusting hack
that plays a zero length sound, which also cancels the currently playing
sound.  Except that wxMac gives file not found errors for wavs with a 
duration of zero seconds so I had to make it a centi-second.

I also took the opportunity to hard code the ringer/wallpaper backgrounds
to be white on Mac.
