All of my recurring events are set to the default duration of 30 minutes.
All of them that occur on the same numeric date import fine. It's only this
one that is on a specific day of the week that has a problem.

I set my filter to import recurring events as multiple single events, and
this particular event used to import. I only noticed that it didn't when my
alarm didn't go off last Sunday as it has in the past.

I think this goes back to a discussion we had a while ago as to the
meaning of "end date" for recurring events. What Jim means this event
to be is a half hour event that recurs monthly. Presently, BitPim
interprets end date to be the date on which the recurrence stops. I
have felt that we should have two end dates. One for the end of an
instance of the event (which then gives you the event duration) and
one for the end of the recurrence. But, I did look at specs and
discussion of vcal and couldn't easily find support for that idea.
