I'm no expert about htis but I believe its a function of the cable
wiring not any software.  My VGA1000 recharges whether or not BitPim
is active.  I recall, when I purchased the cable, that there were both
varieties available.  I'm hard pressed to understand why someone would
choose the kind that expressly said it did not charge.
