The log just says that BitPim didn't detect a phone from the list of phones
that it supports.

If you can connect to the phone with something like kermit or hyperterminal,
send it the command "AT#PMODE=1".  If it responds with something other than
nothing or "ERROR", there is some hope that we could add phonebook and
calendar support for this phone without actually having one in hand.
Otherwise we really need to get our hands on one to make any progress.

Someone did offer to loan an A940 a few weeks ago, but never replied back
when we said that we (the developers) would like to borrow one.
