BitPim on Linux discrepancies

Some discrepancies observed on the Linux load (redhat 9, Python 
2.3.5):

1. The Set Phone wizard does not work: never getting off the first 
page.
2. Phone detection does not work for libusb comm ports.
3. After a succesful detection, failed to communicate with the phone 
through a libsub comm port.

Kinda surprised that these issues have not been reported.
