VX5300 & build 3937:
Some of this may be things I did wrong, or maybe needs to be better
documented:
After some fiddling with Bluetooth I got the phone to connect. Initially
it seemed that bitpim saw it, but I couldn't get anything:
"LG-vx5300 on com3: The phone is not responding while transitioning mode
from none to brew.
See the help for troubleshooting tips."
It didn't give any indication that it was a com problem, but manually
changing it to com4 solved that.
Periodically, I got this error:
"Your phone (LG VX5300) does not answer properly.
This can be due to an internal problem of your phone.
Please power your phone off and on, and try again."
It was still connected and would receive data, but I couldn't write to the
phone. Cycling the phone's power solved it.
Oddly, there are several midi files in the "sounds" directory that don't
show up in the ringtones list in the phone... but when I copied one of them
into the "ringtones" directory, it then showed up as a ringtone and I could
pick it. Also the "ringtones" directory is initially empty (all the canned
ringtones in the phone don't show up in bitpim).
OK... since I originally typed this I see these sounds are viewable on the
phone's menu via settings & tools / memory / my sounds... but they don't
seem to be used anywhere...
I was able to delete the original pictures from the images directory, but
there seem to be some additional canned pixtures available as wallpaper
that bitpim doesn't see.
Overall it seems to work pretty good. Now that I know it works, I'll have
to go out and buy a cable or bluetooth adapter for home (I was testing it
on the projection screen computer in the conference room at work, the only
place where there's a bluetooth adapter) so I can play with it some more.
