More on VX5300:

With the data cable, much more reliable than bluetooth.

I pulled the phonebook from the phone and started cleaning it up.  With my 
old phone (Verizon transferred the contacts from my old phone to the new) I 
had separate entries for different numbers for the same person (e.g. Bob 
home, Bob cell).  Since the new phone allows multiple numbers for a single 
contact, I added those numbers and deleted the redundant entries.  However, 
they didn't upload back to the phone, i.e. I lost the added 
numbers.  However, I *didn't* lose multiple numbers added through the phone 
itself... unless those didn't get overwritten by bitpim?

Also at the conclusion of the phonebook write, the phone reset itself (and 
naturally, bitpim lost communication for a few moments).

I also note that the phone only allows 10 entries per group (which bitpim 
calls categories).  If I edit group information for a contact, bitpim 
doesn't send it to the phone, even if the group isn't full.

I edited the name for one contact (changed the first letter from lowercase 
to uppercase) but after sending the data the phone still displayed only the 
lowercase version..

I created a brand new contact in bitpim, with two phone numbers and a 
group, and all of that information was sent to the phone successfully.

I then edited that contact to add another number and change the group, and 
that information sent successfully.  I was also able to change one digit of 
the number and send that change (I thought perhaps it was comparing the 
record length to determine whether to change it).

Any idea what phonebook entries #BAL, #MIN, and #PMT are?  They show in 
bitpim but not in the phone.

Ringtones convert and upload OK, gonna mess with image files now.
