Questions about adding phone

Based on a response by Joe Pham about the LG4400 phone I have being
different because it came from somebody other than Verizon, I took a
little plunge and decided to create a new phone. I have some questions
before I go any further. So far I have created the new phone,
subclassed from the lgvx4400 and gotten in the menus and talking with
my phone. I've also fixed the calendar functionality.

Questions:

-
since this is a phone for a smaller carrier, Cellcomm of Northeast
Wisconsin, does it even make sense to do this (except for my self)?
- assuming yes, what should the phone be called? right now I've got lgcc4400 (cc = cellcomm)
-
can anything be done about options in the gui that don't exist for the
phone? for example, setting a repeat of every sunday for a calendar
entry

This a debian unstable system. I had to build wxpython
2.8 from source to work the svn version of bitpim. Your docs say you require wxpython 2.6 but that package was missing some functionality you require, extendotextctrl was the one in particular I kept hitting while trying to run bitpim.

I've also hit some bugs in bitpim but aren't sure if it's my
system or not.
- backup from the
filesystem menu opens a dialog box to set the save location, but this
cycles through an infinite loop as it changes size larger and smaller.
It will stop if I hit the browse drop down. It will return if I collpse the browse option.
- my calendar import from
yahoo csv, even a very simple and shortened one will throw an
exception. That would be sort of OK and I can see what to do in the data from the
exception, but when you start from the wizard, and then you close the
exception dialog box by clicking continue, the wizard dialog box, which is modal, is no
longer functional and you have to quit bitpim to continue.

Thanks in advance for your answers.
