Hi there! i recently purchased a Telus LG8500, and i was very excited to hear about bitPIM ... but i was a bit disappointed to find out that only the Verizon VX8500 is supported :( i understand that the difference in the units could be something as minor as file system differences, but could be something as big as a different format for, say, the PIM storage. I'm not a new programmer, but it will be the first time i'm going to try python ... so i'm not expecting results anytime soon. one of the things i'm concerned about, of course, is destroying my phone. it's the only one i have! i've read here and there that using another phone's profile to forcibly send information to the phone will have unexpected consequences. that's fine, but here are some questions for the people who have had more experience than i do: a) will adding files to the phone ever cause it to break? assuming everything works, and i haven't changed any of the files. i try to upload a file to the phone. is the sending/writing protocol standardized in such a way that it won't "accidentally" overwrite a directory or file? b) will the phone ever stop responding to bitPIM if the system gets messed somehow? ie. say i crash the phone. would i be able to restore my backup files through the USB cable without the OS running on the phone? c) will my backup files be of any use to the other more experienced developers? it's not possible for me to lend out my phone, but would the file structure and binary files be of use to anyone else? that's all the questions i can think of right now. thank you for your time in advance. -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Telus-LG8500---I%27ll-take-a-peek-tf3858808.html#a10932273 Sent from the Bitpim - Dev mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
