Mac build?

I'm trying to build a bitpim app on Mac OSX 10.4.10. This is using the svn sources plus some custom phone files. I can run bitpim from these sources without any problems. The makedist.py script has some issues, and I'm wondering how the mac releases are getting built. Anyone care to elaborate, or provide guidance?
